Shortly after Mr. Ruple joined with Case I was fortunate to get one of his first Case axe handle knives. At the time I recall thinking that it was rather plain in appearance viewed lying in the store’s display case. However when it was handed to me it felt nothing like plain. A careful examination of the knife confirmed that it was in fact a product of the fine craftsman at Case. My introduction to Case knives was by way of a gift from my grandfather. His admonition was don’t lose it too soon. He needed not to worry. I think I even slept with that thing under my pillow, ha ha! The tooth fairy was in for a shock that year to find something far greater than the two bits I got for the tooth. Fun memories of a fun tool. The tooth fairy gave me my last reward for a tooth that summer but I was given something far more valuable; an appreciation for the value of quality.
