Beautiful knife cosmetically, BUT doesnโ€™t live up to itโ€™s name as a Whittler.

Out of the box, this knife is beautiful! I didnโ€™t even think to look at reviews of the Seahorse Whittler, as it was one of the featured knives in one of my carving magazines along with several other compact traveling whittling knives. This knife would be a great everyday pocket knife to carry, but when I put this knife to a piece of basswood to make several simple cuts, it was NOT SMOOTH. The thickness of the blade and the angle of the grind are simply not right for a suitable carving knive. Iโ€™m a new knife maker and the blades that Iโ€™ve produced so far are better suited for carving/whittling. I debated returning the knife to shop (and look at reviews) for a better suited pocket knife for whittling, but Iโ€™m going to keep the knife and attempt to grind down the cutting edge to a better angle. Again, because of the name CASE, I didnโ€™t think twice about looking at reviews, but I will for my next purchase. Pretty disappointed overall because it was very expensive.
